Security

The SIM card tells the network who you are and protects you from fraud. Make note and keep in a safe place the PIN and PUK number which is located at the back of the SIM card.

Personal Identity Number (PIN).
This is a four-digit code stored on the SIM Card as a security mechanism which prevents unauthorized persons from using your GSM handset. When you purchase your handset, the PIN is deactivated by default. It is recommended that you activate the PIN on your SIM card. Please refer to your handset manual.

Personal Unblocking Key (PUK)
This is an eight-digit code that is required to unblock your phone when you have entered the incorrect PIN. It is located at the back of the SIM card. All phones have a different set of procedures for unblocking and you will need to consult the manual for your GSM mobile phone when this occurs. Should an incorrect PUK be entered ten times in a row, the CARD will be permanently cancelled.
To report a lost or stolen card, call Customer Service at 1-800-804-2994. We will block the phone after verifying your identity to prevent others using it. Call this number as well if you lose your PUK.

To activate your PIN on your SIM:
  • Always know your correct PIN when switching on your phone.
  • Change your PIN regularly to prevent unauthorised access.
  • To change your PIN, refer to your mobile menu or handset manual.
