Text Messaging
Talk without saying a word. Send and receive Text Messages up to 160 characters over your mobile.
  • Private and discreet, no one can overhear your conversation
  • Send a Text Message when communicating where it may not be possible to speak – libraries, meetings, concerts, bars
  • Send a Text Message to several people at once. Great for staying in touch with groups of friends or coworkers

Refer to your handset user guide for directions for texting or try it out now by following these simple instructions:

How to send a text message:

  1. Select Write Message or Write New from your phone’s menu.
  2. 2. Using the keypad, enter your message (up to 160 characters).
  3. Select Option then Send.
  4. Enter the area code and the mobile number (10-digits) and select Send again. (Note: you must always include the area code even if you are sending a message locally e.g. 246-999-9999)

When you send a Text Message from your mobile phone, your number will always be displayed on the recipient’s handset.

How to read a text message:

When you receive a Text Message, your phone will alert you. Most phones allow you to select the type of notification (e.g. ring, silent, vibrate). Use the scroll keys (up, down) on your keypad to view the entire message. If your phone is turned off, or outside the coverage area, the network will store messages for up to 7 days. If your phone's message storage is full it will alert you. You will not be able to send or receive messages.

Replying to a Text Message

  1. After you have read the message, select Reply from the Options menu
  2. Type in your message and select Send from the Options menu

The time stamp always reflects the time in Jamaica
